Top 10 of 2010

This is sort of my top 10 pictures of Eva from 2010. There are a bunch of people doing top 10s of their kids, and I'm doing it because of Click It Up a Notch. You've seen almost all of these before. But it doesn't include Christmas because I'm too lazy to go upstairs and get the Christmas pictures off the external hard drive, and it's more like 10-ish pictures (baby haters beware!). I'm usually a big rule follower, but this is pictures of Eva we're talking about here. I only recently started learning how to Use my camera, and I am proud of maybe one of these in a technical way, but I love them because they capture the essence of my little Good News Girl (Evangeline means "good news" or "bearer of good news".)

2 February, 5 months, Arizona
My friend L won a gift certificate to this baby hat website then had a boy, so the GNG benefitted! She was "talking" animatedly to me.

2 March, 6 months, California
GNG met my paternal grandfather, who's in his 90s. It was so precious seeing the two of them together. It kills me that this picture is blurry, but such is life.

9 March, 6 months, Arizona
We were in the hotel getting ready to move to Okinawa when GNG discovered that while she could not crawl forwards, she could crawl backwards. So she did. Scoot-scoot-scoot! The girl was constantly disappearing under the bed, surrounded by the sorts of things we apparently keep on our floor, like huge boxes of beer and chewed-upon Army boots.

23 June, 10 months, Okinawa
For a while this book was her comfort object and she had to sleep with it. It's a fuzzy Bible poem book. "Shh! Tiny Bear, come watch Him sleep, the one who made the oceans deep." Check out the awesome mullet tail on her back.

19 September, 13 months, Torii Beach

I think this was my first outing on which I took pictures on manual. For this one the lens was still fogged (THANK you subtropical summer!) but I decided the effect was cool.

9 October, almost 14 months, Okinawa
She loves to hang out in front of our glass back door, which gets really strong light most of the day. I get lots of badly exposed pictures, but sometimes I can crop them into something angelic.

17 October, 14 months, our roof drain
My friends who love bunnies got her this awesome hat for her birthday (thereby combining our loves of bunnies and babies--always a good thing) and then I set her loose in the backyard and chased her around for half an hour. She is obsessed with these drains, I think because they remind her of chairs her size. And she was again "talking" to me. She's quite enthusiastic.

24 October, 14 months, elementary school playground
Wow, this was a well-photographed age. "I found a purple baby-sized dinosaur."

2 November, 14 months, car

This photo shows her great sense of humor. I don't remember what she was laughing at, but it might have been the wind in her face from a window we were putting up and down. If only she were always this happy in the car...

27 November, 15 months, Zakimi Castle
She loved that backpack. For about 2 minutes at a time. (Hair bow half-life: 13 seconds.)

4 December, 14 months, Secret Beach
I love the richness of afternoon sun. I don't have a single picture of the GNG in which she's clean, and that either speaks to me as a mother or her as a busy baby. I love that she loves getting dirty; I think it bodes well for her productiveness and daring in life. I don't love that she loves eating sand, but I guess she'll get over that eventually.
Well, I've beaten my parents' old computer into submission for long enough to write this, so I'm going to post it before it changes its mind.
